Breathing is the only stress response as we can control. It is our “ticket in” to changing how our nervous system operates. We literally have the ability to control our stress response center in our brain stem, simply by learning to breathe, calm our body down and practice mindfulness. It certainly doesn’t happen overnight, but this simple practice of deep, diaphragmatic breathing has tremendous potential to change your life. Thanks to my amazing psychiatrist for teaching me this simple concept. Daily practice of mindful deep breathing has truly saved my LIFE.
